if your local printer is not printing (a printer directly connected to your pc):


1st: Check if the printer is on. if its not powering on, check if the power cables are firmly connected to the printer.

2nd:If the printer is on, check if the usb cable or printer cable is firmly inserted into the printer and also that the end that connects to your pc is connected aswel.

3rd: open the print menu to view the print queue and check the printer status. if the printer is status is offline, try restarting the printer. if its showing a print error, try powering both your machine and the printer off. if that does not clear the problem you can contact IT for assistance.


Shared Printer:

open the print menu and view the printer status under the print queue. if the printer status is offline:

firstly check if someone else whose connected to the printer can print. if they can, check your network connection by checking if your email is connected. if your email is not connected, check to see if your your network cable is firmly inserted into your network card. if your using WI-FI, turn off and turn your wireless adapter.

in the event that your network connection is working check if the printer is on and that the network cable that connects to the printer is flashing or is firmly inserted.


if the printer is shared from another users pc, ask the user if they are to print or if they have network access. if they have network access and they are able to print you can call IT for assistance.
